Katie has always been the black sheep of her family, the only member of it to not like reality the way it was and hate the family's strange obsession of work. Her life was annoying, she hated it so bad she just wanted to run away, until Christmas Day.

She had to attend a family reunion at a mansion her uncle Robin owned. The day first started as good, but that was the long drive to the mansion, the only bad thing was when they had to stop for fuel and the owner of the station was asleep. At the mansion, things were quiet at first; all Katie did was lay on the couch and play Pokèmon Platinum, trying to get her Piplup up to level 100 without evolving it. But after an hour or so, everything went loud. Katie's older brother Jimmy spent about three hours playing country music on his guitar. Her younger brother Quinn acted like a dog chasing his own tail, and almost everyone thought it was funny. Only Katie and Tyler, her best friend who she was allowed to bring, hated it.

Tyler had the perfect idea of sabotaging the Christmas dinner, by putting vomit-inducing 'salt' on top of the turkey before it was placed in the oven. He was caught but came up with the simple lie of "I'm helping out with the food". All that needed to happen now was wait.

Katie planned to go to the nearby beach, but just as she dressed into her swimwear, she was asked to help her aunt tidy up the garden before Robin's boss arrived for the dinner. When Katie received this news she really needed to tell Tyler about it, but as she got up to leave she was yet again called by Elliot, her nosy cousin. Elliot had overheard her & Tyler talking and now he wants to be a part of their 'Christmas Day Epic Sabotaging Scheme'. As a ruse to get Elliot away from it all, Katie gave him the 'ultimate' job of sitting on the back balcony and throwing water bombs at anyone who walked outside. Katie and Tyler meanwhile made a break for the beach.

The beach was calm, and no one was there. Just Katie and Tyler. The waves were epic, so Tyler had grabbed his surfboard and went ballistic on them. He had crashed thrice before giving up. Katie was swimming around in the small reef, wading her arms back and forth, until something had caught her eye. It was a pendant of some sort, shining and giving off a 'I am the perfect trinket of value' glow. Katie had picked it up, admiring its nice embracing feel. Inside the pendant was what appeared to be an image of a sand timer, but it was moving. Around it was another timer, this time counting down to quite possibly, midnight. Katie had flung the pendant around her neck because of its beauty. Tyler told her to take it off but still, Katie refused.

Back at the mansion, Elliot had just gotten into a lot of trouble for throwing a water bomb at Robin's boss. Katie and Tyler had just returned and they both noticed Elliot sitting in a corner, the two pretended not to care. Robin's boss wanted to meet with Katie and told her that once she graduates from school next year, she can work for him. Katie then yelled and said "I don't want to work for you, I want to escape this reality and enter a perfect one, of my own creation or at least one full of fantasy creatures". At that moment, Katie was upset and was told to go to her room upstairs. Katie fell asleep as soon as she flopped onto the bed and woke up at exactly five to midnight. Tyler had woken her up to tell her how successful the Christmas dinner sabotaging went, Robin's boss fired Robin because he thought the food was uncooked after everyone threw up, all over the rest of the dinner.

Katie still had the pendant around her neck and at the strike of midnight, the pendant emitted a blindingly bright light, and then suddenly it was pitch black. It was like the room had just been flash wiped of all colour. Tyler was laying on the ground, unable to see all that well. Katie was sitting on the edge of the bed, shocked but able to see all too clear. She looked around, only able to see Tyler and her bed but nothing else, before looking down and noticing something wrong with her feet. She screamed, her feet had become webbed flippers and her legs had grown blue fur-like feathers. Within a few more seconds she fell to the ground and began shaking as the transformation slowly spread to her chest. She had tried to focus on standing up but the pain was too much, and she let out a deafening scream as the transformation made its way to her head. She had slowly managed to start standing up but soon realised that her transformation was complete. Looking around herself, Katie had noticed that she had become a Piplup albeit taller and more defined. Suddenly the pendant glowed brightly again and without warning, a flash of bright light wiped over everything.

After what seemed like a few years, Katie finally awoke, but the world around her was strange. She had woken up on a beach and saw a flash high up in the sky, looking around, she saw creatures that she had drawn on paper and things that she loved. Katie had to come to accept her new reality. Meanwhile, in the real world, Tyler had just woken up. He knew something wasn't right, so he headed downstairs to find that everyone was awake and preparing to leave. It was the morning of the next day. He had asked Katie's mum where she was only to be answered with "Who's Katie?". After at least an hour of arguing it had become apparent, the memories of Katie had been wiped out from everyone's mind, as if she didn't even exist and now only Tyler knows who Katie is.
You know what they say: be careful what you wish for.

This is a story I wrote last night after playing Pokemon Platinum for a while. I finished it of not long before I submitted it. This story is the first of hopefully many Pokemon transformation stories.
